The Gift of Prayer
We give thanks to God always for all of you,
Constantly mentioning you in our prayers
1 Thessalonians 1:2
The Gift of Prayer

The Gift of Prayer
This has been the season of giving.
Though we give gifts throughout the year
The last few days
Gift giving has perhaps been our focus.
We had a list, on paper or in our head
For family and friends.
We tried to figure out what they like.
Sometimes we even ask 😉
If you have a lot of money
I trust you still bought with love.
Was the dollar bill a stretch?
Love is what matters.
The Gift of Prayer
Whether you are rich or poor
Your list was long or short
The people you love, near or far
You know what to buy, or maybe you don’t have a clue 😉
There is a gift that lasts all year long!
A gift that never wears out!
A gift that lives forever!
It really cost no money
But it will cost you time
You don’t need to go to the store
Or even shop online.
It fits the large 😉
And even the small 😉
It is great for the elderly
Encouraging for the teen
And benefits a child for life😊
Someone you love, may have a lot of money
And you do not have a clue what to get 😉
But I know something that you can give
To everyone on your list
You can even give it to the world
A nation you have never been to
A group of people you have only read about
A lonely man you have seen at the corner market.
The Gift of Prayer
Abraham gave it to Lot
Moses gave it to the children of Israel
Hannah gave it for Samuel
Esther for the nation
Job for his friends
David for his enemies
Hosea for Gomer
Ezekiel for the dry bones😊
Daniel for the people of God
And Jonah finally for Nineveh 😉
Elizabeth for Mary
Jesus for Peter and the 12 disciples
Paul for Timothy
They all received the greatest present without money.
The Gift of Prayer
Jude admonished us to give this gift to those in the fire.
John the Revelator encouraged this gift in the churches.
Noah gave the gift to his family and a world lost in sin.
Abraham sought for Sodom and Gomorrah.
Hagar pleaded for Ishmael.
Through their actions…
Joseph gave the gift to his brothers.
Through provision with love in difficult times.
It might not seem like it but…
Jacob and Esau responded to one another with this gift.
Moses gave this gift to Miriam when she sinned, even against him.
Naomi gave the gift to Ruth.
Boaz to Ruth😉
Rahab for the spies.
Deborah for the children of Israel.
Ezra for the temple.
And Nehemiah with the walls.
David sang this gift often.
The Gift of Prayer
No matter the time of year
No matter what the gift is for
You can give the gift privately
A way that no one ever knows!
Or you can give the gift to someone in need
While you wrap your arms around them.
It might be for a birthday
Perhaps an anniversary
Simply just a “thinking of you”😊
But this gift
Anyone can give
To anyone they wish
At any time of year
So, the next time you don’t know what to do
For someone you care for and love
You can be sure that this gift
Works and fits them all!!!
